Yesterday afternoon, a cold wave started across north Rajasthan. Several districts like Jaipur, Ajmer, Nagaur, Sikar, Churu, Ganganagar, Hanumangarh, Bikaner, Jaisalmer, Dausa witnessed strong cold winds in the afternoon leading to a drop in the night minimum temperature in these cities.

The mercury itself recorded itself at 17 degrees Celsius, owing to a maximum temperature drop of 0.5 degrees.
Mount Abu with mercury-4 has been observed on snow in various areas including Dilwara, Manchgaon, Kumharwada, Santasarovar, Gurushikhar, Oriya, open land, flower leaves blooming in gardens. Normal life gets affected due to the intensity of winter. 

All records were beaten in January last year. In January 2022, the mercury was minus 15 days in the month and three times the mercury was zero. Last year on January 14, Mount Abu recorded a maximum temperature of 5 degrees Celsius. At the same time, on January 5 of this year, he recorded the lowest temperature: 6 degrees.

Director of Meteorological Department, Jaipur, Radheshyam said that there will be no respite from winter at Mount Abu station till January 19. Apart from this, the minimum temperature will drop by one to two degrees. Nevertheless, the cold continues unabated, which has led to extended winters. Till January 19, there will be an intense winter in the same way and the mercury will remain low and low. 

Director of Jaipur Meteorological Centre, Radheshyam Sharma said that Rajasthan winter will intensify next week. The Meteorological Department issued an orange notice which will soon be in place in 12 districts from January 15 to 17. 
He issued warnings for Alwar, Bharatpur, Dausa, Dholpur, Jhunjhunu, Karauli, Sikar, Bikaner, Churu, Hanumangarh, Nagaur and Sriganganagar. Apart from this, alert was issued for Pali, Jodhpur, Tonk, Sawai Madhopur, Kota, Jaipur, Chittorgarh, Bundi, Bhilwara and Ajmer. 
He also expressed apprehension that due to cold wave during the next 4-5 days the crops were raised in time and agriculture experts were raised in the crops. For this, agricultural experts have suggested to do some irrigation in the fields, so that the rabi crops do not get damaged due to frost.
